An overview of the American University of the Caribbean

The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine was established in 1878. Its primary focus is to train physicians on an international level.

Their main campus is situated in Cupecoy, Sint Maarten. This is where all students undertake the first few years of medical studies.

AUC also has many affiliated teaching hospital and clinical sites across US, UK, Canada and across the Caribbean. Students will usually undertake their final few years of studies at these affiliates.

AUC offers on-campus housing and dorms, and also off-campus accommodation. On-Campus accommodation includes furnished apartments (including dining tables, sofas, and beds), fully-equipped kitchens, en-suite bathrooms for each bedroom, air conditioning, living and dining spaces and many apartments also have a balcony facing the ocean view. Their on-campus housing is also a walk-able distance from the beach!

Students who choose to live off-campus have a choice between Beacon Hill, Cupecoy Beach, Pelican Key, Point Pirouette, and Simpson Bay. Price ranges for these apartments range depending on location and amenities. So, students can choose according to their budget.

AUC also offers a range of clubs and organisations that relate to Medicine, including Disaster Medicine Interest Group and Radiology Interest Group. Students can also explore the city on the weekends, with a range of options like ziplining, hiking, eating traditional cuisines and visiting the beach!
