Curtin University was established in 1987 and was the third university to be established in Western Australia.
Currently, there are over 56,000 undergraduates and 6,000 postgraduates. The university has various onshore and offshore campuses.
Onshore campuses include:
- Perth
- Kalgoorlie
- Bentley
- Margaret River
- Sydney.
On-campus accommodation is available on the Perth and Kalgoorlie campus. Both campuses have a range of housing options that are flexible and are spread across the campus.
The university has a range of events happening throughout the semester to help students relax from studying and have a chance to interact with others in a social environment. The university also has various food vans which come at different times throughout the year!
There are a number of clubs and extracurricular activities students can get involved in.

Medical Courses Offered that require UCAT
Curtin University offers Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees to undergraduate students. The following outlines the course offered, its specifics, and entry requirements like UCAT score.

ATAR:
The minimum ATAR required to secure a place in this degree at the university is 95.
IB:
Curtin doesn’t specify the minimum IB score required. However, in the past, the minimum IB requirement was 37.
Prerequisites:
- WACE students are required to study Chemistry in Year 12.
- It is desirable for WACE students to study Mathematics subjects in Year 12 as well, however, it is not a prerequisite:
- Methods ATAR,
- Mathematics Specialist ATAR or
- Mathematics Applications ATAR
- IB: Chemistry at HL Grade 4.
Entry Requirements:
- Student applications are ranked for an offer based upon their UCAT results after meeting the prerequisite requirements.
- The application is ranked on a 60:40 base with 60% of the weight on ATAR score and 40% upon UCAT score.
Application process:
- Students are required to submit the Curtin predicted ATAR form (completed by their school Principal) to Curtin before the published deadline.
- Applicants are ranked according to their ATAR and UCAT results. The top applicants will be invited to an interview. It is valued accordingly:
Interview Criteria and structure:
- Criteria: Students must demonstrate a knowledge of the medical profession, their ability to communicate clearly and think critically.
- Structure: The interview is structured as a Multiple Mini Interview. There are two rounds of interviews:
- November/December Rounds: These interviews are held for those who submitted their predicted ATAR before the deadline and are eligible.
- January Rounds: Those whose actual ATAR renders them competitive will be invited for an interview.
Other options to entry:
- Non-school leavers are able to apply for the program. They will be assessed on the overall grade of their entire study till date.
- Students who are at Curtin can switch after their first year to the medicine program. They must have a course weighted average of 80.
- Students from rural Western Australia backgrounds will be awarded up to 25% of the places.
Degree facts:
- A total of 90 places will be offered to students.
- 28% of these places will be Bonded Medical Places. Thus, students who want to maximise their chance of entry should apply for both Bonded and Non-Bonded places.
- In 4th year, you will transition from the campus to a clinical setting and work with all groups of people.
- This course is not available to international onshore students on student visas
